Discord Will Make Public Server Chats Searchable on Google
(3 hours ago) · 1 source · Summarized by CryptoBipto
Discord has announced that public chat messages in community servers will become searchable through Google and other search engines. Server administrators can opt out of this feature through their server settings. The change affects servers that have enabled the Community feature, making previously semi-private conversations more discoverable.
WHY IT MATTERS
Discord is a chat platform that many crypto projects use as their main community hub — think of it like a clubhouse where project teams talk to their users. Until now, what people said in these chat rooms mostly stayed on Discord and could not be found through a Google search. With this change, messages in public servers could show up when someone searches on Google, similar to how forum posts or social media messages can appear in search results. If you participate in crypto Discord servers, this means your public messages may become more visible to the outside world. Server owners can turn this feature off, but they need to actively do so.
