Infrastructure Is the Strategy
A strategy designed in a Jupyter notebook does not make money. A strategy that runs reliably against live mainnet, on the right RPC topology, with private order flow, with bundle-aware execution, with redundancy and observability — that strategy makes money. The gap between research code and production code is wider in on-chain trading than in most domains because every component of your stack interacts with the adversarial conditions described in Lesson 1.
This lesson is the operational playbook for taking a strategy live. We cover RPC providers (Alchemy, Infura, QuickNode for EVM; Helius and Triton for Solana), private mempools (Flashbots Protect, MEV-Blocker, MEV-Share), bundle submission paths (Flashbots Builder, BloXroute, Titan, Beaverbuild), and the engineering practices — colocation, redundancy, observability — that distinguish operations that survive their first stressful month from those that do not.
The recurring theme: do not save money on infrastructure if your strategy depends on the infrastructure performing under stress. Cheap RPC = missed opportunities and rate-limit errors at the worst moments. No private order flow = MEV tax on every trade. No bundle submission = losing every competitive race. No redundancy = a single failure takes down the operation. The infrastructure choices made before the first trade is sent are typically the difference between a profitable operation and a money-losing one running the exact same strategy logic.

- MEV-Share
- An order flow auction model where transaction existence is broadcast to searchers who bid for the right to interact, with surplus shared back to the originator.
- Bundle
- An ordered set of transactions that a builder agrees to include atomically — either all of them in the specified order in one block, or none. Primitive for atomic arbitrage, liquidation execution, and conditional flows.
- Flashbots Builder
- Original and major Ethereum block builder. Open-source builder software with canonical Flashbots Bundle API. One of several major builders alongside BloXroute, Titan, and Beaverbuild.
- Beaverbuild
- Significant Ethereum block builder with substantial market share. Direct bundle submission and consistent inclusion track record.
- Colocation
- Placing trading servers in the same data center region as RPC providers and exchange matching engines to minimize latency. AWS US-East-1 is a common default for EVM operations.
