Kraken Expands Banking Services to Four More EU Countries — And Will Match 1% of Your Salary Deposits
97d ago · 1 source
Kraken has launched Virtual IBANs in Latvia, Greece, Croatia, and Hungary through its Krak product, allowing users in those countries to receive salary payments and other bank transfers directly into their Kraken accounts. The exchange is also offering a 1% salary match incentive to encourage users to route their paychecks through the platform.
WHY IT MATTERS
Imagine if your crypto exchange worked like a bank account — you could have your employer send your paycheck directly there, just like you'd receive it at Chase or your local bank. That's essentially what Kraken is doing with Virtual IBANs. An IBAN is like a bank account number used in Europe, and a 'virtual' one means Kraken gives you a number that looks and works like a regular bank account, even though it's tied to your crypto exchange account. The 1% salary match means if your employer deposits your salary there, Kraken gives you an extra 1% on top. This matters because it shows crypto companies are trying to become your everyday money hub, not just a place to trade Bitcoin.
