Kraken Is About to Liquidate 21 Tokens — Here's What Holders Need to Do Before August 27

5h ago · 1 source

Kraken has announced it will delist 21 tokens and automatically liquidate remaining balances after an August 27 deadline. Holders of these tokens are urged to withdraw or convert their assets before the cutoff, or risk having their positions sold into illiquid order books at potentially steep losses.

WHY IT MATTERS

Think of a crypto exchange like a store shelf. When a store decides to stop carrying a product, it goes on clearance — but in crypto, that 'clearance sale' can be brutal. If you still hold one of these 21 tokens on Kraken after August 27, the exchange will sell them for you, but because almost nobody is buying them anymore (what's called 'thin order books'), you could get a terrible price. It's like trying to sell concert tickets after the show is canceled — there are very few buyers, and they'll only pay pennies on the dollar. The lesson here is that keeping tokens on an exchange means you're playing by their rules, and sometimes those rules change fast.
