How do crypto wallets and self-custody work?
A crypto wallet does not hold coins. It holds the private key that proves you control an address on a blockchain, and the balance itself lives on the network. Self-custody means you hold that key yourself, so nobody can freeze or move your assets and nobody can restore them for you if you lose the key. A custodial wallet is the opposite arrangement, where an exchange or app holds the key on your behalf and you hold an account with them.

What happens if I lose my seed phrase?
If you hold your own keys and lose the seed phrase without another backup, the assets in that wallet cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. There is no password reset in self-custody, which is why the backup step matters more than any other step in the setup.
Is a hardware wallet safer than leaving crypto on an exchange?
They fail in different ways. A hardware wallet removes the risk that the exchange is hacked, goes out of business or freezes withdrawals, and it adds the risk that you lose the device and the backup. Which trade-off suits you depends on the amount involved and how confident you are about storing a backup securely.
Does CryptoBipto ever hold my crypto or ask for my keys?
